WHEREAS,in June of 2021 the City of Grand Island initiated a nuisance abatement action
in Hall County District Court Case CI21-741 related to 1832 W 11th Street and was granted a
judgment for the costs associated with removing a structure and other nuisance abatement; and,
WHEREAS, cost of abatement actions totaled $12,077.25; and,
WHEREAS, the property has been sold at public auction to a third party purchaser in an
associated court ordered sale; and,
WHEREAS,the City has recovered by and through that action $11,826.40; and,
WHEREAS, the City Attorney is requesting the City Council authorize the remaining
$175.85 due and owing be written off as uncollectable and that she be permitted to take associated
steps to satisfy the judgment and close the City's involvement in this action; and as more than five
years having passed without indication further collection matters would be successful; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA,that the City Attorney is hereby authorized to take all
actions to satisfy and close this matter and to direct the City Treasurer to take all steps necessary to
write-off the remaining $175.85 due and owing to the City as uncollectable.
