WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island Utilities Department owns the properties
legally described as the North 30' of Lot 3 and the North 30' of the West 44' of Lot 2, Block 42,
Grand Island Original Town and the physical addresses are 121 W.4th Street and 370 N.Pine Street;
and
WHEREAS, the Utilities Administration has been working toward eliminating
unused properties that present no real value for future use,in order to reduce maintenance costs and
improve the aesthetics of dilapidated sites; and
WHEREAS, the abandoned Fire Station at this location needs to either be
rehabilitated or torn down and does not lend toward being a viable space for Utility purposes; and
WHEREAS, an estimate of $180,000 was received to tear down the dilapidated
building,but the Utility would like to pursue any value in resurrecting the building and would like to
market the building with an adjacent tract of land that would provide additional off-street parking.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA,that the Utility request to surplus the North 30' of
Lot 3 and the North 30' of the West 44' of Lot 2, Block 42, Grand Island Original Town is hereby
approved.
