WHEREAS, the existing backhoe loader used daily by the Water Distribution
Department is 26 years old; and
WHEREAS, to ensure reliability and 24/7 readiness for repairs to the water
distribution system, a new backhoe loader was included in the FY 2025-2026 budget; and
WHEREAS, Sourcewell contract#UNIV0056 allows for a discounted purchase of
a 2026 John Deere 410-P Backhoe Loader; and
WHEREAS, the final price, including trade-in of the existing backhoe loader, is a
net cost of$153,500.00 from Murphy Tractor & Equipment of Grand Island, Nebraska, which is
lower than the budget price of$165,000.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Water Distribution Department
purchase a 2026 John Deere 410-P Backhoe Loader from Murphy Tractor& Equipment of Grand
Island, Nebraska in the amount of$153,500.00 is hereby approved.
