05/11/2010 Resolutions 2010-130RESOLUTION 2010-130 WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island invited sealed bids for smoke detectors and batteries, according to plans and specifications on file with the City Clerk; and WHEREAS, on Apri128, 2010, bids were received, opened and reviewed; and WHEREAS, Menards of Grand Island, NE, submitted a bid in accordance with the terms of the advertisement of bids and plans and specifications and all other statutory requirements contained therein, such bid being in the amount of $17.99 per smoke detector and $4.26 per battery for a base bid of $83,437.50 to purchase 3,750 of each; and WHEREAS, the bid of Menards is less than the estimate for smoke detectors and batteries; and WHEREAS, the equipment is being purchased through a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant, with the City's portion of such funding to be 10% of the total costs or approximately $8,343.75. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the bid of Menards of Grand Island, NE in the amount of $83,437.50 for 3,750 smoke detectors and batteries is hereby approved as the lowest responsible bid.
