and Alexander,BOCk,BOeCk,Krehrnke,MenCk,petersen and Willard,",.

T11e Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved..
Claim Of Jennie Koester against the C1 ty was read and on motion
of Boeck prince & prince ,Attorneys, were advised that the City
Council would give tl1em a hearing t:hereon at any regular meeting.
Goehrig~-SothL1an Co.,askea permission to use a portion of
Cleburn street and on motion of Bock the request was granted
upon their giving bond as per resolution adopted some time
since. .
Grand Isl~ld Light & Fixture Co.asked permission to have their
License Transferred to the Axelson & Bernstein Co. ,who were
the suc~cessors of former Company and on motion of Willard the
request was granted upon their giving a new bond by the new Co.
On motion of Mencll the Thanks of the IVfayor and Council were
unanimously extended to Mr.T.O.MCLaughlin for his services as
Fuel Administrator during the recent Fuel Shortage.,

Menek sugges ted some damage done to tIle Pav lng and Curb at tIle
corner at' Fourth & Pine streets by the Central Power Company and.
on motion of Menek tIle street Coxumittee was instructed to take
the matter up with said Company.
W.A.Prince was present and addressed the Council in regara. to
claim of Jennie Koester for d~nages from falling on sidewalk
and same was discuese<L by the Mayor and Oouncil ancion motion of
Manck tIle m;~tter was referred to trle C1 ty Attorney to investigate
and report to the Council..
The Water COllunissioner reported that the new Condenser had ar-
rived and th:t another new boiler was needecL at the Plant and
on motion of Krehmke the Clerk was instructed to adVertise for
bids for One 350 1'1 P 4u Water TUbe,Double Drwn Horizontal Boiler.
Trle C1 ty Clerk was instructed to notify tIle Oi ty Physician to
furnish a list of patients Who have been cared for at the
]J:mergency Hospi tal and the amount due tlle Oi ty from each 01' them.

was instructed to embody in the BUilding Ordinance in process
of preparation such regulations as may be needed in the premises.

Whereas,it goes without saying that your honor and the
council of said City including the Members of the Comm.i. ttee
on Police and Board, of Health,have put forth every honorab,le
effort to account for the best interest;s of the City of Grand
I slard , as; well as the Citizens thereof, in reference to the
purc~hase' of an emetgency hospital for the use and 'benefit; of
the said City,and
Whereas, the meeting held of the said Council on the
first day of September 1920,resolution wa~ offerred and adopted
instructing tl:e Clerk of the said City to deliver, to one Lyde'
Jerome' a Warrant of the said City in the sum of ~?4000.oo in
full payment for her three acres of land and improvements, ther-
eon,as soon as the title to the said poperty so purchased had
boen O.K. ld by the City Attorney,and
Whereas:, since, the said meeting tovd t: On tJ:le Second
day of September 1920 through the effort of friends: and friends,
not only of the :rarty concerned but of the said City, One Jacob;
Windnagel the owner of the land upon whic,h the said emergency
hospital has: been c:onducted for several Ylttrs,last passed under
a lease', has agreed to sell the smid City one acre, of the said
land, upon whioh the said hospital is situatedt for the sum of

Whereas, Henry Sohumacher who owns the Jand, imxnediately

of the loa Block on South Wheeler Avenue be exeuptod from the

thereon was deferred for two weeks..
The following Communication was presented and read:
'1'0 the Honorable Mayor and City Council
of Grand Island, Rebraska:-
In presenting this grievance we allow it to supercede a former
one presented to Mr.C.W.Burdick that we will accept sixty two
and one half cents (82ip) per hour straight time with a two
weeks vacation on full pay, instead of sixty five cents (65pfl.
and time and one half on Sundays and Holidays, the said vacation
shall be given when said employee has been in the service of
the City one year,this time shall begin On November 1st., of
this year 1920. That said Council shall cause this Contract
to be placed in writing of three copies, one to be retained by
the City Clerk, one by the employoe::-f.,) and one by Local 371
S.F.& O. of Grand Island, lTebraska-tha"t any em.ployee being
