12/06/2005 Resolutions 2005-345 I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2005-344 WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island, Nebraska, is an eligible unit of a general local government authorized to file an application through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for a Community Development Block Grant; and WHEREAS, a grant application has been prepared to request between $255,000 and $505,000 in funding for start up costs associated with a transportation -logistics center, known at this time as Project Cottonwood; and WHEREAS, the project would result in the creation of over 100 full-time equivalent positions ofwhich at least 51 % would be held or made available to low to moderate-income persons; and WHEREAS, the City would retain $5,000 of such grant funding for audit and administrative expenses associated with the grant; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on December 6, 2005, to accept public comment on the proposed project and grant application. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that: 1. The City of Grand Island, Nebraska, is hereby authorized to apply for financial assistance from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for the purpose offunding start up costs associated with a transportation -logistics center, known at this time as Proj ect Cottonwood. 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute such grant application and other documentation on behalf of the City of Grand Island for such grant process.
