WHEREAS, on May 11 and 12, 2005, the City of Grand Island sustained damage to
public facilities and infrastructure as a result of heavy rain and flooding in the area; and
WHEREAS, certain Federal/State financial assistance under the President's Disaster
Relief Fund (PL93-288) as amended, and the Governor's Emergency Fund (R.R.S. 81-829.42) is
available to the city for reimbursement of costs expended as a result of such heavy rain and flooding;
and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that Paul Briseno, Assistant to the City
Administrator, be designated to prepare and submit all documentation necessary to obtain
reimbursement for the City's costs expended as a result of the heavy rain and flooding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that Paul Briseno, Assistant to the City
Administrator is hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the City of Grand Island, any and all
documentation to obtain disaster relief funds as a result of the May 11 and 12,2005 heavy rain and
flooding to the Grand Island area.
