WHEREAS, on June 11,2002, by Resolution 2002-158, the City of Grand Island
entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency
to transfer ownership of equipment necessary for handling hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with the City's agreement to respond to hazardous
material emergencies throughout the state, federal funding is available to receive training in
specialized rescues and for additional rescue equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Grand Island Fire Department has received notification that they
have been awarded federal grant funds; and
WHEREAS, specialized rescue training by the ROCO Company has been authorized
in the amount of $84,825, and additional rescue equipment in the amount of $42,049 will be
purchased; and
WHEREAS, the City's is responsible for 10% or approximately $12,687.40 for such
training and equipment; and
WHEREAS, a proposed agreement with ROCO Company for the specialized rescue
training has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney's office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the receipt of federal grant funds for
specialized rescue training by ROCO Company in the amount of $84,825 and for the purchase of
additional rescue equipment in the amount of$42,049 is hereby approved; and the Mayor is hereby
authorized and directed to execute an agreement with ROCO Company on behalf of the City of
Grand Island for such training.
