11/09/2004 Resolutions 2004-291 I I I RESOLUTION 2004-291 WHEREAS, the Code Compliance Officer with the Legal Department is responsible for identifying and investigating complaints pertaining to property maintenance, junk vehicles, nuisances and accumulation of garbage; and WHEREAS, at its study session on November 2,2004, the City Council discussed a proposal to transfer such code compliance duties to the Police Department; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the Police Department will hire three part-time community service officers who will each work 25 hours per week to handle the duties formerly conducted by the Code Compliance Officer; and WHEREAS, this will result in a full-time equivalency of 1.9375 employees; and WHEREAS, the 200412005 budget currently authorizes one full-time employee to perform code compliance duties; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the adopted 200412005 budget to allow the 1.9375 full-time equivalents for the community service officers at the Police Department to begin such code compliance duties. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that effective immediately, the code compliance duties shall be transferred from the Legal Department to the Police Department, with such duties being completed by three part-time community service officers each working 25 hours per week. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the 2004/2005 adopted budget be amended to permit 1.9375 full-time equivalent employees to perform code compliance duties.
