10/12/2004 Resolutions 2004-267 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2004-267 WHEREAS, a ten foot section of the street at Sutherland and Plum Street has collapsed, and has created a five foot deep hole; and WHEREAS, it is unknown what may have caused the street to collapse; and WHEREAS, the City has sewer lines, water mains and storm sewers in this area which are affected by such street collapse; and WHEREAS, using the City's standard procurement procedures to make repairs will not allow the required repair work to be completed in an acceptable time frame; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to proceed immediately with the required repair work; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate and necessary to deal with this emergency by proceeding under Section 27 -13 ofthe Grand Island City Code (1988 ed.) and declare and authorize an emergency procurement procedure; and WHEREAS, the Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska, is qualified to do such work, and was available and willing to do such work on a very short notice; and WHEREAS, as it is unknown what caused the street to collapse, the Diamond Engineering Company will evaluate the damage and report back to city officials with a proposed plan to repair the damage and a cost estimate to make such repairs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the use ofthe City's emergency procurement procedures in this situation is hereby ratified. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that emergency work shall be completed by the Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska, after such damage has been evaluated and a proposed plan and cost estimates have been provided to city officials. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Public Works Department is authorized to issue a purchase order to the contractor for such proj ect.
