12/23/2003 Resolutions 2003-397 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2003-397 WHEREAS, the Nebraska Department of Roads intends to expand to five-lanes, a section of U.S. Highway 30 from the Seedling Mile Access Road to east ofthe Merrick County line, and make improvements to the intersections, storm sewers, sidewalks, ditches and roadway lighting; and WHEREAS, the Nebraska Department of Roads will pay 80% ofthe project costs; and WHEREAS, utility relocation costs that are not considered betterment, are eligible for reimbursement as proj ect costs under this agreement; and WHEREAS, the total project costs are anticipated to be $9,179,000, however since much of the project area is out of the city limits, the city costs are estimated to be $750,000 or approximately 8% of total costs; and WHEREAS, the funding source for the city's cost share will be from the city's Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) allocation of funds which are maintained by the Nebraska Department of Roads; and WHEREAS, an agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads is required to proceed with this project, known as Project No. S-30-4(1027). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads for widening of the roadway and improvements to the intersections, storm sewers, sidewalks, ditch and roadway lighting along U.S. Highway 30 from the Seedling Mile Access Road to east of the Merrick County line is hereby approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute such agreement on behalf of the City of Grand Island.
