03/18/2003 Resolutions 2003-86 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2003-86 WHEREAS, on March 24, 1998, an Administrative Order was issued by the Nebraska Health and Human Services (NHHS) requiring compliance with the Lead and Copper Rule, including the preparation of an Optimum Corrosion Control Treatment Study; and WHEREAS, the Order requires the installation of Optimum Corrosion Control Treatment by April 2003; and WHEREAS, NHHS concurred with the recommended treatment to inject a liquid ortho-polyphosphate solution into the water distribution system to reduce corrosion; and WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island invited sealed bids for the Purchase of Liquid Ortho-Polyphosphate for Corrosion Control, according to plans and specifications on file at the Platte Generating Station; and WHEREAS, on March 6, 2003, one bid was received, opened and reviewed; and WHEREAS, Aqua Smart, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia, submitted a bid in accordance with the terms of the advertisement of bids and plans and specifications and all other statutory requirements contained therein, such bid being in the amount of$139,950.00; and WHEREAS, Aqua Smart, Inc.'s bid is less than the engineer's estimate for such project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the bid of Aqua Smart, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia, in the amount of$139,950.00 for the purchase ofliquid ortho-polyphosphate for corrosion control is hereby approved as the lowest responsible bid.
