08/27/2002 Resolutions 2002-268 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2002-268 WHEREAS, Stuhr Museum and the Stuhr Museum Foundation are exploring the possibility of constructing and operating a new railroad at the museum; and WHEREAS, the museum and Hall County are considering placing the project on the statewide general election of November 5, 2002 for determination by Hall County electors; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council wish to express its intent to the museum and the Hall County Board to provide financial commitments to pay necessary operating expenses prior to said election; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have been asked by Stuhr Museum and the Stuhr Museum Foundation to make a commitment in the amount of$l 00,000 per year for a period of 10 years as part of an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with Hall County; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council in furtherance of the project, wish to express their intent to proceed with an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with Hall County to assist in paying operating expenses of the railroad if the project is approved by Hall County electors. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that provided the railroad project is approved by Hall County electors at the statewide general election of November 5,2002, that the City of Grand Island will endeavor to enter into an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with Hall County to share in payment of the operating expenses of the railroad. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Grand Island will commit $100,000 a year for a period of 10 years as its contribution toward said operating expenses. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Grand Island, Nebraska on August 27, 2002.
