WHEREAS, as a result of the recent military deployments, it has become necessary
to outline and clarify the military duty leave policy for city employees affected by such military
deployment; and
WHEREAS, specific procedures of the policy have been developed in accordance
with state law and further enhanced at the direction of the Mayor and City Council; and
WHEREAS, expenditure of funds will be necessary to implement such policy; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that such policy as outlined in the Personnel
Director's memo dated October 19, 2001 be approved and adopted effective immediately and
applicable to all employees affected by the military deployment after September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, such policy will be incorporated into the Personnel Rules and
Procedures to be approved and adopted by the City Council in the near future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Military Duty Leave Policy as outlined
in the Personnel Director's memo dated October 19, 2001 is hereby approved and adopted effective
immediately.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the necessary expenditures be appropriated to
implement such policy.
