RESOLUTION 2001-135
WHEREAS, In August, 2000, the City Council voted to proceed with the addition
of two combustion turbine generators; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island invited bids for two combustion turbine
generators for the Utilities Department, according to the plans and specifications on file with the
Purchasing Division of the Legal Department; and
WHEREAS, on April 19, 2001, bids were received, opened and have been reviewed;
and
WHEREAS, General Electric Company of Schenectady, New Yark, submitted a bid
in accordance with the terms of the advertisement of bids and the plans and specifications and all
other statutory requirements contained therein; and
WHEREAS, the bid specifications requested pnce quotations far additional
equipment specifically related to the turbine generator; and
WHEREAS, after evaluation and review it is determined that certain quoted
equipment be purchased as a part of this contract bringing the total contract award price to
$29,861,000.00; and
WHEREAS, General Electric Company's bid is less than the engineer's estimate for
said proj ecL
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the bid of General Electric Company of
Schenectady, New York, in the amount of$29,861,000.00 for two combustion turbine generators
is hereby approved as the lowest responsive bid submitted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a contract by and between the City and such
contractor be entered into for such project, and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to
execute such contract on behalf of the City of Grand Island.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the initial payment of$2,986,100 to General
Electric Company under such contract is hereby authorized to be made.
