06/12/2001 Resolutions 2001-124 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2001-124 WHEREAS, in the late 1960's, the City of Grand Island, acting as the Urban Renewal Authority, acquired property for development to low to moderate income families; and WHEREAS, the federal Urban Renewal program ceased operations in 1974; however the Community Development Division continues to serve as the ex-officio Urban Renewal Authority; and WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island annually receives a statement for $31.64 to be paid in lieu of taxes from a small tract of land located at 11 th Street and Cherry Street which is held in the name of the Urban Renewal Authority; and WHEREAS, it is suggested that the City acquire the title to such property from the Urban Renewal Authority to more accurately reflect the ownership status of the property; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on May 22, 2001, for the purpose of discussing the proposed acquisition of property located in the West Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (W1I4, SW1I4) of Section Ten (10), Township Eleven (11) North, Range Nine (9) West of the 6th P.M. and a part of the north Seventy Five (75.0) feet of Lot Twenty Five (25), County Subdivision [such part being 40.0 feet on 11 th Street and 75.0 feet on Cherry Street ("L" shaped)] all in the city of Grand Island, Hall County, Nebraska. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the City of Grand Island be, and hereby is, authorized to acquire the above-described tract of land from the Urban Renewal Authority.
