04/10/2001 Resolutions 2001-91 I I I RESOLUTION 2001-91 WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island desires to develop the Grand Island Shoemaker Trail as a ten foot wide bicycle/pedestrian trail; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the trail will start on Cherokee Avenue near Shoemaker Elementary School and follow a city-owned drainage way one and one-half miles to Westridge Middle School, turn east continuing to follow the drainage way through a residential subdivision to North Road where it will connect with the State Street Trail; and WHEREAS, the City applied for and received a grant to develop this property into a hike/bike trail; and WHEREAS, an agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads is required to proceed with this project, known as STPB-40(49); and WHEREAS, federal funds will cover 80% of the project costs up to a maximum of $335,523, with the City's share of such project to be approximately $83,881. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads for the development of a ten foot wide hikelbike trail to begin Cherokee Avenue near Shoemaker Elementary School and follow a city-owned drainage way one and one-half miles to Westridge Middle School, turn east continuing to follow the drainage way through a residential subdivision to North Road where it will connect with the State Street Trail, is hereby approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute such agreement on behalf of the City of Grand Island.
