12/05/2000 Resolutions 2000-370 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2000-370 WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island Police Department is eligible for federal funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) Program for obtaining equipment for the purpose of reducing crime and improving public safety; and WHEREAS, a condition of the grant award is that a public hearing must be held showing support for the use of such grant money; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on December 5, 2000 as required by the grant documents; and WHEREAS, any grant money received is tentatively allocated for the following items: · An additional bicycle patrol unit plus carrier · Defensive tactics mats · Uniform needs for the Community Service Officers · Fire Extinguishers for the Impound Building · Strobe boxes for motor units · Replacement batteries for portables · Additional transmitters for the mobile video units · Additional portable radios NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the City of Grand Island Police Department is authorized to apply for grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) Program for the utilization of grant funding to purchase the above-identified items. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute such grant application and related documentation in furtherance of obtaining such grant funding for the items identified above.
