11/21/2000 Resolutions 2000-349 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2000-349 WHEREAS, on October 24,2000, by Resolution 2000-320, the City of Grand Island approved the acquisition of right-of-way located south of Cannon Road and between Macron Street and North Road for the purpose of installing and maintaining a hike/bike trail which will connect to the State Street hike/bike trail; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to clarify the location ofthe hike/bike trail to be located south of Cannon Road and between Mansfield (not Macron) Street and North Road; and WHEREAS, the Nebraska legislature has found that development of a statewide system of recreational trails is in the public interest and the City of Grand Island believes it can safely construct, maintain, repair and operate a hike/bike trail along such land; and WHEREAS, public hearings were held on October 24,2000 and November 21,2000, for the purpose of discussing such acquisition of right-of-way; and WHEREAS, Lot 2, Burris Subdivision was omitted from the earlier list of property in which right-of-way would be acquired for such hike/bike trail. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the City of Grand Island is hereby authorized to acquire right-of-way within Lot 2, Burris Subdivision for the purpose of installing and maintaining a hike/bike trail which will connect to the State Street hike/bike trail. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if the acquisition of such property is not possible through negotiations, the City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to commence condemnation proceedings on behalf of the City of Grand Island to acquire such property forthwith.
