09/26/2000 Resolutions 2000-283 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2000-283 WHEREAS, three centrifuges are necessary to remove solids from the sewage in the wastewater treatment process; and WHEREAS, one of the three centrifuges is in need of repair, requires specialized equipment and expertise for repairs, and it is impossible to determine the extent of repairs required until it is disassembled and inspected for wear; and WHEREAS, without three operating centrifuges, the wastewater treatment process will not function properly or in compliance with the City's NPDES permit; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to act quickly to proceed with repair work on the centrifuge; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate and necessary to deal with this repair work by proceeding under Section 27-13 of the Grand Island City Code (1988 ed.) and declare and authorize an emergency procurement procedure; and WHEREAS, quotes were obtained for centrifuge repair in accordance with Section 27-13 of the Grand Island City Code; and WHEREAS, Centrifuge Technology, Inc. of Houston, Texas, submitted an estimated cost for such project in the amount of $26,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the use ofthe City's emergency procurement procedures in this situation is hereby ratified. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the quote from Centrifuge Technology, Inc. of Houston, Texas in the estimated amount of $26,000 for such centrifuge repair is hereby approved as the lowest responsive quote received. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a contract between the City and such contractor be entered into for such project, and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute such contract on behalf of the City of Grand Island.
