05/23/2000 Resolutions 2000-151 I I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2000-151 WHEREAS, Grand Island's electric system is interconnected to the national grid via the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD); and WHEREAS, NPPD owns and operates transmission facilities to serve the western two thirds ofthe state and is designated as the area control for transmission by the Mid-American Power Pool (MAPP); and WHEREAS, with the re-regulation of the electric industry, Grand Island has increased potential for sales and purchases of energy; and WHEREAS, NPPD is willing and able to provide marketing services for sales and purchases of power; and WHEREAS, it is recommended that NPPD serve as the sole energy marketing agent for the City of Grand Island; and WHEREAS, a proposed Joint Marketing Agreement has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney's office. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Joint Marketing Agreement by and between the Nebraska Public Power District and the City of Grand Island is hereby approved; and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute such agreement on behalf of the City of Grand Island.
