01/18/2000 Minutes I I I OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL/HALL COUNTY BOARD JOINT STUDY SESSION January 18, 2000 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a Study Session of the City Council of the City of Grand Island, Nebraska was conducted in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 100 East First Street. Notice of the meeting was given in the Grand Island Independent on January 12, 2000. Mayor Gnadt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The following members were present: Mayor Gnadt, Councilmembers Larson, Pielstick, Hosier, Seifert, Preisendorf, Ward, Samuelson, Murray and Sorensen. Councilmember Whitesides was absent. The following City Officials were present: City Administrator Marian Ferguson. DEMONSTRATION OF PUBLIC SAFETY COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM. Police Chief Kyle Hetrick, Emergency Management Director Howard Maxon, and Sheriff Jerry Watson demonstrated a computerized system that was designed to improve the efficiency and capabilities of the public safety. Chief Hetrick reported that the Spillman System would link the Police Department, Hall County Sheriff's Office, 911 Center, county attorney, public defender, and probation and that this linkage would save redundancy and repetition. Chief Hetrick reported that the goal was to move toward a computer aided dispatching system.
