07/23/2002 Ordinances 8753 I I I ORDINANCE NO. 8753 An ordinance to amend Chapter 19 of the Grand Island City Code; to amend Section 19-3 pertaining to library board; to repeal Section 19-3 as now existing, and any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith; and to provide for publication and the effective date ofthis ordinance. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA: SECTION 1. Section 19-3 of the Grand Island City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: ~19-3. Library Board; Compensation; Term The library board shall consist of seven members, to be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council and to be chosen from the citizens at large, of which board neither the mayor nor any member of the city council shall be a member. Terms of office shall be a four (4) year period, with board positions terminating on June 30 of the year their respective term expires. In case of vacancies by resignation, removal, or otherwise, the mayor and city council shall make appointments to fill such vacancies for the unexpired term. No director shall receive any payor compensation for any services rendered as a member of the board. No director shall be elected for more than two successive terms. SECTION 2. Section 19-3 as now existing, and any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be, and hereby are, repealed. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be in force and take effect from and after its passage and publication, within fifteen days in one issue of the Grand Island Independent as provided by law.
