WHEREAS, on February 11, 2025, via Resolution No.2025-44, the City of Grand
Island awarded The Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska the bid in the
amount of$811,466.85 for Stuhr Road at Highway 30 Northbound Turn Lanes;Project No.2023-P-
12; and
WHEREAS, on August 19, 2025, via Resolution No. 2025-269, City Council
approved Change Order No. 1, in the amount of$80,522.99, due to unforeseen maintenance items
with this project; and
WHEREAS, JBS Foods Group will cover the cost of the project associated with
additional improvements to extend a center left turn lane to their south parking lot driveway on the
east side of Stuhr Road. Such contribution to the total project equates to$217,939.00,resulting in a
final project cost of$593,527.85 to the City; and
WHEREAS,Change Order No. 1 increased the City share to$674,050.84,accounting
for the JBS Foods Group Contribution; and
WHEREAS, on December 12, 2025, via Resolution No. 2025-410, City Council
approved Change Order No. 2, at no cost,to extend the completion date from November 1,2025 to
May 31, 2026 due to a delay in the traffic signal delivery; and
WHEREAS, to address the additional items required by Nebraska Department of
Transportation (NDOT) Change Order No. 3 has been requested, which increases the contract by
$11,176.24, resulting in a revised contract amount of$903,166.08.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA,that the Mayor be,and hereby is,authorized and
directed to execute Change Order No. 3, in the amount of$11,176.24, between the City of Grand
Island and The Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska to provide the
modifications.
