WHEREAS,Grand Island Fire Department(GIFD)shift personnel are trained to the
EMT or paramedic level; and
WHEREAS, GIFD personnel must work under the direction of a licensed medical
doctor called a medical director; and
WHEREAS,the contract with the current medical director will end on September 30,
2026; and
WHEREAS,an RFP was conducted which resulted in two submitted proposals;and
WHEREAS,an internal committee evaluated the RFPs and recommended Midwest
Emergency Department Services (MEDS) to act as GIFD medical director; and
WHEREAS,MEDs will act as Medical Director for five(5)years at a cost of$36,000
per year.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA,that the medical director contract between the City
of Grand Island and MEDS is hereby accepted and approved; and that the City Clerk shall store,
retain, and make available for access all related and herein referenced documents as contracts and
agreements are retained.
