WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island Utilities Department participates in the
Southwest Power Pool(SPP)Integrated Marketplace,owns transmission facilities, and utilizes the
SPP transmission system; and
WHEREAS, SPP is the Regional Transmission Organization responsible for
transmission reliability, wholesale electric markets, and transmission planning within its service
area; and
WHEREAS, SPP decisions directly affect the City's electric utility operations,
costs, reliability obligations, and long-term planning; and
WHEREAS, membership in SPP gives the City of Grand Island voting rights.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that membership in the Southwest Power
Pool is approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed
to execute such contract on behalf of the City of Grand Island and to take all other actions necessary
to effect the purpose of this resolution.
