An ordinance to amend Grand Island City Code Section 35-30, pertaining to water
utility rates; to create or modify such section as necessary; to clarify and/or make general
corrections to various sections therein;to repeal any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith; and to provide for publication and the effective date of this ordinance.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA:
SECTION 1. Section 35-30 of the Grand Island City Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:

SCHEDULE OF RATES WITHIN CITY
The monthly service fee and monthly usage rate to be charged for water furnished within the
corporate limits of the City shall be as follows:

Plus:
A customer charge for unfunded federal mandates for the Clean Water Act and the City's
backflow program, in addition to the regular rates charged for water furnished to the customer as
follows:
Effective October 1, 2025: $0.89 per month
Effective October 1, 2026: $1.04 per month
Effective October 1, 2027: $1.12 per month
Effective October 1, 2028: $1.21 per month
CITY DIVIDEND FOR UTILITY OWNERSHIP
All water services provided by the Grand Island Utilities Department will be subject to a City
Dividend for Utility Ownership. The City Dividend for Utility Ownership will be set by
resolution in the City of Grand Island Fee Schedule and calculated as a percentage of the total
bill. The City
Dividend for Utility Ownership will be identified as a separate line item on an electric bill and
will be calculated as follows:
Water City Dividend= Water Bill Before Sales Tax * Water City Dividend Rate
The City Dividend for Utility Ownership will be subject to applicable sales tax.
SECTION 2. Any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be, and hereby are,
repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in force and take effect after its passage and publication,
in one issue of the Grand Island Independent as provided by law.
