WHEREAS,Nebraska has experienced historic wildland fires over the past several
years; and
WHEREAS,the Grand Island Fire Department's(GIFD)current brush truck is a 2003
Ford F550; and
WHEREAS.,the fire department seeks approval to apply for, and if awarded, accept
an Assistance to Firefighters Grant(AFG) to help replace their current brush truck; and
WHEREAS.,the estimated cost of a wildland brush truck is approximately$260,000
with a local match required of approximately$24,000; and
WHEREAS,the Fire Department's proposed FY 2027 Capital budget will include
funding for the local match.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA, that the Fire Department is hereby authorized to
apply for, and if awarded, accept a grant from the AFG for the purchase of a wildland brush truck;
and that the City Clerk shall store, retain, and make available for access all related and herein
referenced documents as contracts and agreements are retained.
