WHEREAS, the Grand Island Fire Department uses Lucas Devices to do manual
chest compressions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and
WHEREAS, state regulations of Emergency Medical Services mandate that
equipment be maintained according to manufacturer's recommendations; and
WHEREAS, Stryker Corporation of Portage,Michigan has stated two of the devices
have reached the end of their service life and will not continue to certify them, and
WHEREAS,the proposed purchase of two Lucas Devices from Stryker Corporation
will have a total cost of$37,158.68 from the Sourcewell buying group, contract number 041823-
STY, and has been approved in the 2025-2026 City Budget.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA,that the purchase of two new Lucas Devices from
the Stryker Corporation be approved.
