WHEREAS, the existing 2013 Peterbilt chassis with an Altec Boom has
approximately 47,156 miles and 6,857 hours which is equivalent to over 150,000 miles on the engine
and power transmission equipment; and
WHEREAS, the truck is 12 years old and is showing wear due to its extensive use,
and will be at least 13 years old when a replacement can be delivered; and
WHEREAS, the order of the 2025 TEREX C4047 Digger/Derrick platform from
Terex Utilities LLC.,of Watertown, SD for$342,519.00 was purchased separately from the chassis
as a cost savings to the Department and was approved on March 27, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Sourcewell contract#032824-KTC was awarded to Sahling Kenworth
Inc., of Kearney,NE; and
WHEREAS, specifications for replacement of Unit #1559 were prepared by
Department staff resulting in a recommendation of a T480 Kenworth chassis truck from Sahling
Kenworth Inc, of Kearney, NE for $131,662.00,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Line Department purchase the T480
Kenworth chassis truck from Sahling Kenworth Inc,of Kearney,NE in the amount of$131,662.00 is
hereby approved.
