WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island Police Department is applying to the FY25 Edward
Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Grant for federal assistance for the purchase of ten(10)
Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged Laptops and ten docking stations to be used by officers in the daily
performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island Police Department has been allocated $29,838.00
under this federal fund with 75%of the funds going to GIPD and 25%of the funds to Hall County
Sheriff's Office ; and
WHEREAS, the cost for the purchase of the ten laptops and ten docking stations is
estimated at $43,500.00 with $22,378.00 of that cost being requested in federal grant funding and
the remaining $21,122.00 will be spent as part of a requested FY27 computer replacement
program, being spent in FY27; and
WHEREAS,here is a Memorandum of Understanding in place with Hall County Sheriff s
Office for their portion of the grant, which will be used toward Flock LRP cameras and
surveillance equipment with a federal grant share of$7,460.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the FY25 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice
Assistance Grant application in the amount of$29,838.00 is hereby approved.
