12/09/2025 Resolutions 2025-414 RESOLUTION 2025-414 WHEREAS,in June,one of the plant's two circulating water pumps developed a leak due to wear and corrosion; and WHEREAS, Plant Maintenance staff made a temporary repair, and quotes were obtained to disassemble, inspect, and repair the pump; and WHEREAS, upon inspection by Ruhrpumpen, who submitted the lowest quote, extensive corrosion that is beyond typical weld repair was found and the entire elbow and tail piece will need to be remanufactured; and WHEREAS, Ruhrpumpen is the original manufacture of this pump and the only company that has the original equipment drawings; WHEREAS,it will take eight weeks to complete the repairs and proceeding with the formal procurement process would delay getting the pump back into service,causing a derate at the Platte Generating Station's electric generating capabilities. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the City's Emergency Procurement Procedures be implemented and authorize Ruhrpumpen of Tulsa,Oklahoma to perform the repairs in the amount of$225,808.00.
