WHEREAS, The City of Grand Island Utilities Department has had a contract to
purchase renewable hydro firm power from WAPA since 1970; and
WHEREAS, on May 13, 2025, Council approved updated documents to the
contract; and
WHEREAS, the current contract allows only transfer within Midwest Renewable
Energy Tracking System(M-RETS); and
WHEREAS, the revised contract will allow Renewable Energy Certificate exports
out of M-RETS as well as transfers within M-RETS.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the revised Contract to Transfer and
Export Renewable Energy Certificates to the City of Grand Island be signed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into
and execute the contract with WAPA.
