WHEREAS, The City of Grand Island Utilities Department has had a contract to
purchase renewable hydro firm power from WAPA since 1970; and
WHEREAS, WAPA allows Renewable Energy Certificates equal to the number
of megawatts of Firm Power generated to be transferred to members with a valid signed Transfer
Renewable Energy Certificates contract; and
WHEREAS, The City of Grand Island does not currently have a signed Transfer
Renewable Certificates contract; and
WHEREAS, a signed Transfer Renewable Certificates contract is required as the
first step in the process to allow The City of Grand Island to monetize those RECs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA, that the contract with WAPA be signed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into
and execute the contract with WAPA.
