WHEREAS,the Grand Island Public Library uses an electronic cataloging,esource
sharing, and InterLibrary Loan system to ensure consistent access to catalog resources for the
Public; and
WHEREAS, a public solicitation was made to secure these catalog services and
"OCLC" was the sole responding provider; and
WHEREAS, the proposal was within the funds appropriated and budgeted by the
City for this resource; and,
WHEREAS, an Agreement is being negotiated for these services with an
anticipated FY 25 cost of$31,333.05 per year with anticipated contract extensions for up to 10
years of additional cataloging services at a cost to automatically escalate with inflation and the
growth of the Library's available catalog; and,
WHEREAS, OCLC was the sole responding provider therefore the Library is
requesting Council designate OCLC as a sole-source provider for cataloging services as permitted
by Grand Island City Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND,NEBRASKA,that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter
into all necessary contracts and agreements with OCLC for the provision of cataloging services;
to include any necessary renewals so long as no renewal extends the contract beyond ten years;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that OCLC is declared a sole source provider for
Library cataloging services and that said declaration shall be valid for a time period not to exceed
ten years.
