The City's electrical board had reviewed the 2023 NEC and recommended approval with the local amendments as outlined in the proposed ordinance. The State of Nebraska Electrical Division had granted the City of Grand Island delegated authority to conduct electrical inspection in the Grand Island jurisdiction. The State had passed legislation adopting the 2023 National Electrical Code as the state code. This would become effective on August 1, 2024. In order for Grand Island to maintain an electrical inspection program, the jurisdiction must adopt the current state electrical code.
