04/9/2024 Resolutions 2024-103 RESOLUTION 2024-103 WHEREAS,a Grand Island HomeTown Heroes has been formed for the purposes of creating, operating, and promoting the Grand Island HomeTown Heroes; and WHEREAS,the Grand Island HomeTown Heroes Program serves the public interests of promoting American patriotism and honoring U.S. Military veterans and active duty service members of the Grand Island community by working to display banners of eligible U.S. Military veterans and active duty service members of the Grand Island community on Light Poles in the city of Grand Island; and WHEREAS,the Grand Island HomeTown Heroes Program has entered into a license agreement with the City of Grand Island Utilities Department which will allow the banners and hardware to be placed on City light poles, subject to the terms and conditions of that negotiated agreement; and, WHEREAS,the agreement allows City Council to waive the pole attachment fees set forth in the City's fee schedule when no city resources are used for installation or maintenance of the banners and allows the City to remove the banners at their sole discretion should the need arise;and WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of agreement between the City of Grand Island Utilities Department and the Grand Island HomeTown Heroes Program, no city resources will be used to install or maintain their proposed banners. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, the Light Pole Banner Attachment Agreement with Grand Island HomeTown Heroes Committee,which includes a waiver of fees by City Council, is approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute any necessary documents or agreements on behalf of the City of Grand Island and that the City Clerk shall store, retain, and make available for access all related and herein referenced documents in the same manner as contracts and agreement are retained.
