An invitation for kids—Instead of the usual three-day event, this January we’re trying out something
different—a one day Bear Fair! Preschool children, come for plenty of fun and educational health-related
activities such as listening to bear tales, taking part in bear aerobics, visiting dental and eye care bear,
Scrubby Bear, make-a-bear, bear repair, bear treats, fire safety, and more. Please call 385-5333 for
questions or to preregister groups. Kids, don’t forget to bring your favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal!
An invitation for volunteers—As usual, we need plenty of volunteers to make this a successful event.
Please call Kim or Elle at 385-5333 or e-mail us at giplfoundation@gmail.com or elles@gilibrary.org.
Contact the library for more details.

Item F1
Approval of Grand Island Community Foundation Grant Agreement
Our library has been awarded a $3,000 grant to be used for teen space equipment and furnishings in
the upcoming renovation. The application was made by the library as a component of the City, and the
funds will be deposited directly into the City's 295 fund. The grant agreement is attached. Upon library
board approval of the agreement, the Board President will sign and the Library Director will return the
agreement to the Grand Island Community Foundation.

Item F2
Approval of Letter of Support for Agreement Between City of Grand
Island and Grand Island Public Library Foundation
Previous information supplied at Library board meetings and City Council sessions has indicated the
intended means by which the upcoming renovations will be financed without use of city tax funding.
Library Board approval is sought to authorize the Board President to submit a letter to the City of Grand
Island supporting an agreement between the City and the Grand Island Public Library Foundation. In
this agreement, the Library Board would affirm that:
* Currently deposited monies from the Myrtle Grimminger estate in the City's 295 Special Projects
account are designated by the Library Board for the Library Renovation Project including a construction
contract and procurement of specified furnishings and equipment.
* Grants subsequently obtained by the City for the Library Renovation Project will need to be deposited
into this account for such purposes
* The Foundation has agreed to contribute the remaining funds into the City's 295 Special Projects
account solely for such library renovation purposes
* The Library Board requests approval by the City Council of an agreement between City and the Grand
Island Public Library Foundation for this renovation
