For the next few months, our newsletter will be devoted to updates on our progress as we move through the construction documents, contract award, logistics for operations while renovations are underway, and grand re-opening. It’s certainly time to “Reinvest in your Public Library” thanks to the Myrtle Grimminger estate, grants being written and upcoming fundraising coordinated by Grand Island Public Library Foundation. All along we’ve been keeping in mind our project’s four fundamental building-blocks of reaffirming, responding, reimagining, and then renovating. We are so grateful to our patrons whose everyday use of our library, suggestions for improvement and continual encouragement will make all our reaffirming, responding, reimagining and renovating worthwhile. Reaffirming our library’s mission as this diverse community’s center for a lifetime of learning and literacy since 1884. Responding as a library with community gathering and learning center welcoming for all ages, diverse backgrounds and interests, with continually improving spaces for individual, collaborative and creative learning through programs, services, and meetings. And responding to changes in library use incorporating the book as well as other technologies on our physical and electronic shelves. Reimagining and Renovating — the adventure begins as you open this newsletter and follow along in coming months!
