03/12/2024 Ordinances 9968ORDINANCE NO. 9968 An ordinance to amend Chapter 4 Section 19 of Grand Island City Code to clarify the prohibition on alcohol possession at City pools and hike/bike trails; and to exernpt alcohol sold and possessed at Jackrabbit Run Golf Course and at for-profit adult sporting events within the fenced grandstand boundaries of Ryder Park. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA: SECTION 1. Chapter 4, Section 19 of the Grand Island City Code are hereby amended to add and read as follows: It shall be unlawful for any person to have in his/her possession or physical control any alcoholic liquors upon any of the property belonging to the City designated as a city park, pool, hike/bike trail,playground or plaza. This section shall not apply to events authorized or sponsored by the Railside BID for use of the plaza located at Pine Street and 3rd Street, Grand Island, Nebraska. Any user shall comply with all terms of the Railside BID use agreement and shall have the appropriate liquor licensing for said use. This section shall not apply to events authorized or sponsored by the Heartland Public Shooting Park located at 6788 W. Husker Highway, Alda, Nebraska. Any user shall comply with all terms of the Heartland Public Shooting Park Event User Agreement and all other rules and regulations of the Park. The user shall have the appropriate liquor licensing for said use. This section shall not apply to alcohol purchased and consumed at the Jackrabbit Run Golf Course. This section shall not apply during for-profit adult sporting events held at Ryder Park so long as all alcohol is possessed within the fenced perimeter of the grandstand; is purchased and consumed in compliance with all rules and regulations set forth in any use agreement; and is sold, possessed, and consumed pursuant to a liquor license issued for said event. SECTION 2. Any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be, and hereby are, repealed. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in force and take effect immediately after its passage and publication, in one issue of the Grand Island Independent as provided by law. Enacted: March 12, 2024.
