WHEREAS, at the December 14, 2021, Council meeting, UCC Environmental was
awarded the contact for the PGS Bottom Ash System Upgrade in the amount of $1,980,700.00; and
WHEREAS, at the January 24, 2023, meeting, Council approved Change Order # 1 in
the amount of $2,163,776.00 for construction and erection installation costs that could not be set
initially due to the construction market volatility; and
WHEREAS, during the inspection of the pumps, additional repairs were discovered to
restore pump integrity for a total of $140,264.00; and
WHEREAS, during the installation phase, minor modifications, including moving a
conflicting air line, pouring a sidewalk and changes in conductor cabling and terminations, are
required to accommodate existing plant utilities and standards for a total of $9,212.77; and
WHEREAS, a reserve supply of chemicals is recommended to ensure reliable
operation of the water treatment system for a total of $29,224.59; and
WHEREAS, the addition to the work scope will result in an additional $178,701.36
for a final contract cost of $4,323,177.36.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that Change Order #2 with UCC Environmental, in
the total amount of $178,701.36, is approved, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the Change
Order on behalf of the City of Grand Island.
