WHEREAS, the City of Grand Island published on May 22, 2019 a request for
proposal for legal services to obtain a court order to allow the City of Grand Island to abate a public
nuisance on specified private property within the jurisdictional area; and
WHEREAS, no proposals were received; and
WHEREAS, the City Building Department on June 27, 2019 contacted two firms who
had expressed an interest in the past and those firms, Mayer, Burns & Koenig and Neuhaus Law
Offices have submitted a proposal for legal services. The lowest responsive bid was received from
Mayer, Burns & Koenig.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Mayor be authorized to sign the proposal
with Mayer, Burns & Koenig in the amount of $150.00 per hour for Attorney time, incidental cost of
$87.00 filing fees, $150.00 title report, $150.00 publication service, and $100.00 service fees, and a
total cost not to exceed $2,000.00 for legal service to obtain a court order allowing the City to enter
onto private property at 156 Beck Road., legal description of Lot 4, Block 3 Schwartz subdivision,
Merrick County, Nebraska and abate the identified public nuisance and charge the cost thereof
against the real estate and owner of record.
