09/12/2017 Resolutions 2017-241� , RESOLUTION 2017-241 WHEREAS, at the April 11, 2017 Council meeting, Council awarded the contract for Vehicle Storage Building and Warehouse at 1306 West 3rd Street, to Chief Construction Company of Grand Island, Nebraska, in the amount of $372,613.00; and WHEREAS, the existing concrete pavement just west of the new garage was deemed to slope towards the proposed building slab and to alleviate water from flowing toward the proposed building, 936 square feet of existing pavement was removed, regraded and replaced at a cost of $6,808.93; and WHEREAS, an old foundation was discovered during excavation and inspection of the soil in this location deemed the soil to be unsuitable as a base material and the soil had to be removed and replaced at a cost of $8,767.11; and WHEREAS, the connection point for the sewer be changed from a manhole toe the existing service line and in order to facilitate the extra pavement removal and pipe installation, an extra cost of $6,257.47 was incurred; and WHEREAS, as a result of these design changes, Change Order # 1 was prepared for an additional $21,833.51, for a total contract amount of $394,446.51. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that Change Order #1 for the Vehicle Garage & Warehouse Project at 1306 W. 3rd Street, is hereby approved and the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign Change Order #1 on behalf of the City of Grand Island.
