03/28/2017 Resolutions 2017-86RESOLUTION 2017-86
WHEREAS, about four years ago, the Utilities Department began an Automated
Metering Infrastructure (AMI) pilot project using the Landis & Gyr system which allows for data
collection remotely through a proprietary communications system based on the metering
manufacturer; and
WHEREAS, the Utilities Department has begun installing AMI meters anytime power
is disconnected due to lack of payment, and this enables customers to be re-connected remotely once
payment is received without the need of dispatching a crew; and
WHEREAS, new developments and apartment complexes are also good locations to
install AMI meters due to the density and transient nature of the accounts; and
WHEREAS, with the number of developments and apartment complexes under
construction as well as a relatively steady street of disconnections, the ability to purchase large
quantities of ineters makes financial sense; and
WHEREAS, additional discounts may be obtained when purchasing larger quantities
of ineters and Kriz-Davis Company of Grand Island, Nebraska is the sole supplier of Landis & Gyr
AMI meters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that Kriz-Davis Company is the sole supplier of
Landis & Gyr AMI meters for use with the City Utilities Department's metering system.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Grand Island, Nebraska, March 28, 2017.
