11/12/2013 Resolutions 2013-373 Resolution #2013-373 was referred to the November 26, 2013 City Council meeting
by the City Council at their November 12, 2013 council meeting.
RESOLUTION 2013-373
WHEREAS,on June 27, 1994,the City of Grand Island enacted Ordinance No.8021
creating the Community Redevelopment Authority of the City of Grand Island,Nebraska,to address
the need for economic development opportunities through the vehicles provided in the Nebraska
Community Development law at Neb. Rev. Stat. §18-2101, et seq., as amended; and
WHEREAS, Scott Rief has caused to be prepared a Blight and Substandard Study for an
area of referred to as Area No. 14; and
WHEREAS, Marvin Planning Consultants completed such Blight and Substandard
Study and has determined that the area should be declared as substandard or blighted area in need of
redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, Scott Rief presented such study to the Grand Island City Council on
August 27, 2013 and
WHEREAS,on August 27,2013 the Grand Island City Council referred such study to
the Hall County Regional Planning Commission for review and recommendation; and
WHEREAS, the Regional Planning Commission held a public hearing and
recommended approval of such study at its October 2, 2013 meeting; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing to consider approval of a Blighted and Substandard
designation was held on November 12, 2013.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Blight and Substandard Study for
Redevelopment Area No. 14 as identified above is hereby approved, and those areas identified in
said study are declared to be blighted and substandard and in need of redevelopment as
contemplated in the Community Development law.
