WHEREAS,on June 27, 1994,the City of Grand Island enacted Ordinance No. 8021
creating the Community Redevelopment Authority of the City of Grand Island,Nebraska,to address
• the need for economic development opportunities through the vehicles provided in the Nebraska
Community Development law at Neb. Rev. Stat. §18-2101, et seq., as amended; and
WHEREAS, Pridon LLC has caused to be prepared a Blight and Substandard Study
for an area located south of Capital Avenue between Broadwell Avenue and Wheeler Avenue
encompassing the Veteran's Administration Medical Center referred to as Area No. 11; and
WHEREAS, RDG Planning and Design completed such Blight and Substandard
Study and has determined that the area should be declared as substandard or blighted area in need of
redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, Pridon LLC presented such study to the Grand Island City Council on
June 26, 2012 and
WHEREAS, on June 26, 2012 the Grand Island City Council referred such study to
the Hall County Regional Planning Commission for review and recommendation; and
WHEREAS, the Regional Planning Commission held a public hearing and
recommended approval of such study at its July 11, 2012 meeting; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing to consider approval of a Blighted and Substandard
designation was held on August 14, 2012.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Blight and Substandard Study for
Redevelopment Area No. 11 as identified above is hereby approved, and those areas identified in
said study are declared to be blighted and substandard and in need of redevelopment as
contemplated in the Community Development law.
