08/26/2008 Resolutions 2008-219RESOLUTION 2008-219 WHEREAS, in February 2004, the Grand Island City Council identified development of a permanent, regional Household Hazardous Waste Facility as a community goal; and Goals: and WHEREAS, the current City Council have selected the following 2008-09 City Council Secure funding and begin construction of the Household Hazardous Waste facility. Continue to aggressively address environmental issues and advocate for citizens. WHEREAS, in July 2008, Grand Island City Council approved $12,500 redesign with MILCO and Associates from the Solid Waste Fund; and WHEREAS, the building plan and site plan have been prepared by MILCO Environmental Services, INC., with an estimated construction cost of $784,000; and WHEREAS, staff has added a 7% contingency for a total cost of $836,360; and WHEREAS, if awarded the grant, a city match of $40,000 cash maybe allocated in the 2009- 2010 budget; and WHEREAS, an in-kind match of $40,000 for land, $12,500 for redesign, and staff time will be utilized; and WHEREAS, a grant application has been prepared to request funding in the amount of $796,360 from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the construction costs of the facility; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the City of Grand Island is hereby authorized to submit a grant application in the amount of $796,360 to the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the construction of a Household Hazardous Waste Facility. BE TT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute all documents necessary for the submission of the grant application.
