10/10/2006 Resolutions 2006-299 I I I i~;.j; RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2006-299 WHEREAS, the starling population continues to create health concerns within the City of Grand Island; and WHEREAS, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, starlings have been associated with numerous disease organisms transmissible to humans and livestock; and WHEREAS, in the past, the City of Grand Island has contracted with the United States Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Damage Control, to thin the starling population in Grand Island by using the chemical DRC-I339, which is species specific; and WHEREAS, the cost of contract services by the United States Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Damage Control, is in tbe amount of $5,846.00; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Grand Island to enter into a contract with the United States Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Damage Control, to control the population of starlings. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, tbat the contract between the City of Grand Island and the United States Department of Agriculture for population control of starlings is here by approved at a cost of $5,846.00.
