08/08/2006 Resolutions 2006-221 I I RES 0 L UTI 0 N 2006-221 WHEREAS, on May 2, 2006, by Resolution 2006-151, the City of Grand Island awarded a bid in the total amount of $7,406,080.00 (including alternate bids 2 and 3) for the construction of a Law Enforcement Center to Chief Construction Company of Grand Island, Nebraska; and WHEREAS, included in the $7,406,080 bid was a construction contingency of $150,000; and WHEREAS, on July 11, 2006, by Resolution 2006-194, the City of Grand Island approved Change Order No.1 to allow the use of aluminum instead of copper for the electrical feeder conductors for the project for a savings to the City of$7,605.00, increasing the construction contingency to $157,605.00; and WHEREAS, at this time it is necessary to correct a discrepancy between the architectural and structural drawings for the proj ect with respect to the use of 16 gauge studs rather than 20 gauge studs for the lobby walls of the facility; and WHEREAS, such change has been incorporated into Change Order No.2, and will result in an expense in the amount of$2,526.30, leaving a balance of$155,078. 70 in the construction contingency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized and directed to execute Change Order No.2 for the construction of the Law Enforcement Center to correct the discrepancy between the architectural and structural drawings for the proj ect with respect to the use of 16 gauge studs rather than 20 gauge studs for the lobby walls of the facility.
